Alyssa Esquivel’s expat journey began 15 years ago as a single woman eager to explore the world. It has since evolved into a fulfilling life of family, career, and community service across multiple countries. Having lived in India, Turkey, Nicaragua, and Panama, Alyssa ultimately found her home in Belize. She and her husband have become dual citizens alongside their four children, understanding the challenges that come with immigration, cross-cultural marriage and culture shock. In addition, she has navigated pregnancy, motherhood, and the global education systems all while becoming an integral part of her local community.

Belize’s rich cultural and historical diversity has made it a melting pot for people from all over the globe, combined with its welcoming atmosphere and warm citizens no one is truly a stranger for long. Add to that the simplicity for raising her children without the pressures so common to kids today and the peace of mind of knowing her kids are experiencing the world instead of just learning about it, and it’s easy to see why her family has made Belize home.
