Meet Your Guide

Your expert partner through your Ecuador relocation journey

Emily Burt

Emily Burt

Emily Burt is a relocation guide supporting retirees, remote workers, and families who are exploring life abroad and want realistic, on-the-ground insight. She moved to Ecuador with her family in September 2025, relocating with two young children (ages 5 and 6), and brings firsthand experience navigating an international transition as a family.

She has lived in both Cuenca and Manta, experiencing Ecuador’s range firsthand, from cooler mountain cities to laid-back coastal life. One of Ecuador’s biggest draws is how much variety fits into a small country. Mountains, beaches, fresh food, and vibrant communities are all close enough to explore without constant travel. For retirees and young families alike, Ecuador offers strong value, accessible visa options, and a lifestyle that feels full without feeling rushed.

Trip Itinerary

1

Day 1Arrive

Arrive in Cuenca and check in to your hotel.

2

Day 2Seminar & Historcal Downtown

Start your journey with a deep dive of expat life in Ecuador at the seminar covering immigration pathways, real estate, taxes, and more.

3

Day 3Centro

Today, you'll explore the walkable, UNESCO-protected heart of Cuenca — colonial architecture, cobblestone streets, museums, markets, and cafes at your doorstep.

4

Day 4El Vergel & Gringolandia

Adventure to El Vergel, which offers residential calm just across the river from downtown, while neighboring Gringolandia (Ordoñez Lasso) is the city's expat hub — modern high-rises, English-speaking services, and river walk trails. This is the easiest soft landing in Cuenca.

5

Day 5Chaullabamba & Turi

Discover two outer neighborhoods for those craving space and scenery: Chaullabamba runs warmer, sunnier, and drier than the city center with spacious semi-rural properties, while Turi sits on a southern hillside with panoramic city views.

6

Day 6Departure

Check out of your hotel and travel home, or opt to stay longer.

What to Expect

Community

Meet other people who want to move abroad and enjoy exploring and getting to know each other. There will also be opportunities to meet locals and other expats.

A Learning Experience

Stay with fellow guests in great locations to get a feel for how you might like living in each of our destinations. Meet local experts like realtors, immigration attorneys, or local expats who know the ins and outs of moving to the local country.

Life as a Local, Not a Tourist

We'll bypass the touristy parts of town and experiences like visiting museums and landmarks. Instead, we'll see livable neighborhoods, markets, and where the locals hang out.

Fun!

We're all moving abroad for a better life, so we'll work on giving you a taste of what that means to you.

What Past Travelers Say

Jen and Brett, what you all organized was hard. And all of us stretched. When you do hard things together and succeed, the results are amazing. I feel like we've made potential lifelong friends.
