Karla is currently on her third expat assignment in Warsaw, Poland, having previously lived in London and Rome. She and her partner believe there’s no better place to raise their two children, exposing them to all this planet had to offer, and have actively sought out expat placements with various companies over the past 15 years. Central Europe is having a renaissance, and she believes they’ve landed in the perfect place.

With its Midwest-like weather, life in Poland reminds Karla of growing up in Michigan, and is full of the beauty of all four seasons. Whether you like the bustle of cities or the countryside with its lakes and mountains, Poland has it all. Cities are clean, public transit is vast, and modern highways and trains make getting around the country easy. Plus, Poland is still considered a lower cost country compared to the U.S. Capital Warsaw is a unique mix of modern and old, with its reconstructed Old Town receiving the UNESCO world heritage designation.

Karla was most surprised by Warsaw’s safety, extensive bikes trails, and wonderfully healthy food options. She enjoys going to farmers markets all over the city.
