Originally from Boulder, Colorado in the U.S., Tim relocated to Malta at the end of 2025. Tim is loving the adventure of living in a part of the world completely new to him. From daily hikes along the coast of Malta’s sister island of Gozo, to preparing meals sourced with local produce (and paired with wine from one of the island’s vintners), he’s embracing all the best Malta offers. Each day can bring its own surprise, be it pleasant, challenging or merely curious.

Tim began researching possible retirement locations in Europe in 2020 and that’s when Malta emerged as a place he could call home. However, it wasn’t until 2024 that he took his first concrete steps to move abroad. Tim had little opportunity to travel outside the U.S. in his younger years and has never lived abroad before. He still considers himself very much a novice who is learning as he goes.

If you want to learn more about the day-to-day experience of Maltese life, whether it be shopping, transportation, or renting an apartment, Tim can share what he’s learned. As a single person who made the move on his own, building community and friendships has been a focus of Tim’s since arriving. He’s happy to share resources and insights of community life in Malta for new immigrants, retirees, and queer folx. He’s also available to discuss the relocation process itself. Whether it be making the decision to leave (or not) or downsizing your household, Tim has recently gone through the whole process on a relatively rapid timeline.
