Hi! I'm Debbie, an American living on Sardinia full-time. I added two days near Olbia to an early 2017 Mediterranean vacation, and I knew I had found my new home. Sardinia is unique and special... thousands of years of culture, the freshest and most wonderful food, but mostly, the warm and genuine people. The sense of community and the way people take care of each other is absolutely beautiful. The slow pace of life takes some getting used to, but it's a welcome change.

I wrangled a self-employment visa, and landed here with five suitcases in January 2018. As an immigrant, I have started a business here, paid my contributions and taxes, learned Italian to currently a B2 level (and passed the A2 and B1 tests), and filled out more forms than I had in my entire life up to living here. My cargo container came over in 2020, and holy cats... lessons learned! I married my Sardinian husband, Piermario, in 2023, and I have applied for citizenship as a spouse. I like to say that I'm an "Italian Inpat." I don't define myself by where I left. I am an Italian immigrant, and I'm home!
