After a 3-month, 11,000-mile motorcycle trip through most of Mexico, Oaxaca kept calling me back.

I live in Oaxaca 6 months each year and still have a foothold in Florida. As a part-time expat, I have a diffeeent perspective on how to move abroad. If you’re considering test-driving a location before jumping all in, I’m happy to give my point of view.

Oaxaca is culturally rich because of the Zapotec influences of the surrounding villages, the climate is moderate ( no humidity at 5000 ft elevation), it’s a food destination and well deserved, and the people are warm and welcoming. Surrounded by mountains but yet only 3 hours to the southern Pacific coast.
